this was the 3rd time i had a chance to use my new lights

3 profoto D1 Air's were used on this

1. Key Profoto D1 Air with Kacey Dish for key
2. Rear hair Profoto D1 Air with Creative light softbox with grid
3. underneath Profoto D1 for fill of shadow on neck and chest
mother of model held New profoto light for underneath.

Josh and Bailey probably had many a dates before they were married.. but my vision was to have a romantic moment in his amazing 1965 mustang.

lighting on this was 3 lights.

1. Key light was a 550 Speedlight with a shoot thru umbrella camera right about 6-8 feet away @ 1/2 power

2. Rear Left back lighting was AB1600 with Yellow Gel with 64 PLM about 10 feet back for the rear corner lighting

3. Rear Right back lighting with Red gel for the highlight held by the Bride's Brother Jesse @ 1/8 power (thanks Jesse !)

this we taken in the trick last few mins of the day light..

it was hectic with the day light changing so fast..

we had to have a team for this one..

her sister was holding the back willow branches out of the way to allow the framing as such, plus her boy friends mom was helping with the hand positions and cutting off any willow low hanging that didn't allow the framing as such, and i had the rest of the team help hold lights, move lights and super fast cloth changes gave us this out put..

seriously we had only 5 mins from motocycle shot to transition to this shot that was 100 yards away.. plus an outfit change..

so the key point was this... Team Allison performed very well to get her this shot!.. thank you team allison..

all i did was just get the camera settings right and aimed the camera and we went on a 10 shot framing trial and error and finally got this one.. whewww.. that was fast and frantic.. haha

lighting was 2 lights..

1. Ab1600 for key with beauty dish at 1/8 power
2. AB1600 with yellow gel camera right for the fake sun light, and at 1/2 power about 12 feet

Well this image has had quite the Odyssey, been one of my favorite images, been on a billboard, in a major magazine, and now published in a Mainstream Fashion Book for photographers.

this book is a new publication by Chris Gatcum. Light and Shoot: 50 Fashion Photos features the work of photography Masters Miles Aldridge, Perou and Rankin and its a real PRIVILEGE to have been part of this project.. actually mind blowing.. :)

The concept of this book is pretty simple - Lighting Handbook for fashion photographers

shows the shot and on the opposite page, the set up of lights and captions about HOW to do the shot and a little background of the concept or history of the shot.. and small tid bit of the photographer.. :)

"The key to this book though, is on the back cover- that “lighting styles come in and out of fashion and are constantly evolving… Some would say there are no rules abut lighting..-or that lighting is something you never truly master; but the more you shoot the better you get at it.”" i couldn't agree more, there is no limits on creative lighting and concepts..

being she is an outdoor nature photographer, into wildlife photography and loves colors, we framed here with all of that.. add some studio lighting in the outdoors and you get this.. Lauren's Senior photos..

Credit goes to her father who spotted the flower patch in a turn about near the parking garage we parked in..

we found a small window of flowers that didn't have a distracting background and did some compositional studies before we brought out the lights.. (we had lauren go into the flower patch 3 different times and locations before we settled on this framing.. )

working on Paige's senior photos(dark hair), but her best friend came along to help out..

Kelsey (blonde)is a photographer and has also been a second shooter with me in a wedding, apparently she can model too, so it made total sense to take a besties image of them..

kelsey's right hand has about 8 stitches so we had to minimized it in the pose..

rear lighting AB1600 with yellow gel bare at 1/3 power and front lighting was AB1600 with 60 inch plm as key 1/3 power

1. back camera left rim "SUNNY" look was created by AB1600 with Yellow Gel at 1/2 power
2. key lighting AB1600 at 1/2 power with 60 inch PLM held down by mother..

the lighting here was all faked sun light..

2 AB1600 were used..

camera right rear for fake back lighting being it was really just cloudy and dark outside and cold !

key lighting was @ 1/2 power with 60 PLM mother held down the light so it wouldn't blow over

back lighting was AB1600 at 1/2 power with yellow gel..

looks like a sunny day eh? not !
